PRESIDENT Philip Lilienthal, Reston, VA. Mr. Lilienthal is the founder of Global Camps Africa and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Click here for further information on Mr. Lilienthal.



Chairman Kohann H. Whitney, Reston, VA. Consultant with more than 30 years' experience in communications, business development, and public affairs management; public policy leadership; and community service. Recently retired from Northrop Grumman Corporation as Director, Strategic Communications & Public Affairs for the Mission System sector. Past Chair, Fairfax County School Board, Fairfax County Park Foundation, Dulles Corridor Land Use Task Force, and board member of numerous non profit organizations.

Vice Chairman Tony Asch, Warren, NJ. President of the Jackson Foundation, a Virginia-based private foundation with interests in the fields of education, social services and welfare, historic preservation, culture and the arts, the environment and public policy. The foundation often provides seed grants to startup non-profits in these fields. He is also President of StrayLight Corp., a multimedia firm based in New Jersey.


Secretary Margaret Ann Metzger, JD, Wellesley, MA. Currently, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Commission on End of Life Care; formerly, Senior Vice President and Corporate General Counsel at Tufts Health Plan (1988-1999) and business department lawyer at Nutter, McClennen & Fish.



Treasurer Ronald Scott, Ocala, FL. Former Owner/Director of Camp Laurel in Maine, and also founded and operated Camp Laurel South in Casco, Maine. He currently serves as a consultant to both Camp Laurel and Camp Laurel South. He is a former Board Member of the American Camp Association (ACA), New York Section, and Program Chair for the annual ACA Tri-State Camping Conference. He is also a Standards Visitor for the ACA and has volunteered for several years at Broward House, a residential facility for AIDS/HIV positive adults in Fort Lauderdale.

Carol Bradley is a native of Jersey City, New Jersey and has been a resident of Reston Virginia for 36 years. Carol is a retired elementary school educator, having taught in Jersey City and Newark, New Jersey, Gary, Indiana, Joliet, Illinois and Fairfax County, Virginia. Working in Fairfax County for 25 years, Carol was a teacher, Human Relations specialist, assistant principal and an elementary principal for sixteen years. Now retired, she serves on the Board of Governors for the Reston Community Center, facilitator of an African American Educators group, a volunteer and Friend of the Reston Library and a tutor mentor at the high school. Carol is excited about being asked to be on the board for Global Camps Africa and hopes to plan fundraising activities that involve students, Camp Winnebago participants and local schools.

Steven L. Gold, Sacramento, CA: Currently, Chairman of Direct Marketing Partners and Board member of California State University, Sacramento University Enterprises, Inc., a nonprofit that manages the commercial enterprises of the university. He was formerly a business consultant to nonprofit organizations conducting organizational assessments, and to early stage and middle market companies; former CEO iVox LLC, President and CEO InfoPlex Corporation both of which involved business to business teleservices.

Ginger McGuire is a Senior Vice President with Lancaster Pollard Mortgage Company, and has more than 30 years experience in housing public policy and program management. She has worked for the federal government, Texas state government, nonprofits and private corporations. She has served as a board or advisory member for numerous organizations including the Congressional Federal Credit Union, Fannie Mae, Dallas Affordable Housing Coalition and Volunteers of America Texas.


Rafe Pomerance, Washington, DC: Currently Chair of Climate Policy Center; formerly, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Environment and Development (1993-99), Senior Associate, World Resources Institute, and President, Friends of the Earth.

Nancy Risman, Greenwich, CT; worked as an advertising account executive in the late 1980s; she then built the marketing department at Oxford Health Plans, and then was a freelance marketing consultant and community service volunteer. She chaired the Families for Greenwich Hospital Campaign and raised over $1.2 million for a new Pediatric Center for Greenwich Hospital. She is a board member of The Red Ribbon Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDs.
