The struggle to contain HIV/AIDS in Africa has all the hallmarks of a full-scale war. In fact, according to former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, more people have died of AIDS in Africa than in all the wars on that continent. This extraordinary statistic includes wars in Angola, Sierra Leone, Congo, Somalia, Sudan and Ethiopia.Millions of children affected by AIDS are vulnerable.
Groups of orphaned children are increasingly common–children growing up without adults to supply love, nurturing, care and protection, who are hungry, malnourished and stigmatized. Disconnected from social norms and vulnerable to violence, sexual exploitation and political opportunism, children and young people easily turn to crime to survive. If you look at the ease with which unhappy or insecure children can be recruited as child soldiers you understand the dangers.
These children need more than words. They need leadership that touches their lives. They need action on a scale that touches them. They need your support to enable Global Camps Africa to make that happen.

Global Camps Africa uses camp as a vehicle

To educate and prepare vulnerable, HIV/AIDS-affected children and youth to live life fully with HIV/AIDS and to provide the life skills and resources to support them;

Through education and outreach, to reduce the incidence rate of HIV/AIDS, particularly among children and youth;

To provide an opportunity for at-risk children to have fun and the chance to build relationships with other children in a safe and healthy environment;

To encourage the development of emotional intelligence, which will reduce societal stigmatization of HIV/AIDS; and,
-
To open new camps in other developing countries affected by HIV/AIDS.
