Global Activism: Fighting HIV/AIDS with Camps for Kids - Phil Lilienthal on NPR
South Africa has one of the most severe HIV/AIDS epidemics in the world. The United Nations estimates that 5 and a half million people are living with HIV in South Africa. The pervasiveness of AIDS in South Africa can be especially hard on children. In 2005, there were over a million orphans due to AIDS in South Africa.

Phil Lilenthal saw the need to help children affected by AIDS and founded Global Camps Africa. The organization started a camp for kids outside of Johannesburg in South Africa that blends HIV/AIDS awareness with good old camp fun. Phil Lilenthal told Jerome how he came up with the idea for Global Camps Africa.
